Cockatrice

Article#: 861

It would be laughable, if it were not so tragic, to watch man go through all the intricate contortions to build his house of blasphemy and unbelief. Their striving's ultimate quest is to discredit the inerrant Word of God. Carnal academia rejects the nose-on-your-face truth, developing layers of suppositions in order to justify their rebellion against the obvious. For 6,000-plus years, Satan has harnessed the world's best unregenerated minds to destroy the absolutes of the Word of God. But he has failed miserably. No lie has ever controverted the truth of God's Word. Concerned believers can relax and enjoy their glorious salvation. God is never wrong and God never loses. If you haven't yet entered into the miracle of redemption or if you have fallen away from the Father, why not change that situation today? Click on to "Further With Jesus" on this website for immediate entry into the Kingdom of God. Today will be the best day of your life and tomorrow, if you apply the Word of God, will be better. NOW FOR TODAY’S SUBJECT.

GOD SAID, Isaiah 14:29:

Rejoice not thou, whole Palestina, because the rod of him that smote thee is broken: for out of the serpent's root shall come forth a cockatrice, and his fruit shall be a fiery flying serpent.

GOD SAID, Isaiah 11:8-9:

8 And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice' den.

9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.

GOD SAID, Isaiah 59:5:

They hatch cockatrice' eggs, and weave the spider's web: he that eateth of their eggs dieth, and that which is crushed breaketh out into a viper.

GOD SAID, Jeremiah 8:17:

For, behold, I will send serpents, cockatrices, among you, which will not be charmed, and they shall bite you, saith the LORD.

MAN SAID: We were not created by the God of the Bible. Actually, we evolved from nothing and we have the 'missing links' to prove it.

Now THE RECORD. This website has cataloged an array of Biblical creatures which clearly point to an extinct, or nearly extinct, species. Paleontologists have unearthed these creatures, attributing them to evolutionary "missing links."

Leviathan, a giant saltwater serpent-dragon, is defined in Job 41:

1 Canst thou draw out leviathan with an hook? or his tongue with a cord which thou lettest down?

2 Canst thou put an hook into his nose? or bore his jaw through with a thorn?

3 Will he make many supplications unto thee? will he speak soft words unto thee?

4 Will he make a covenant with thee? wilt thou take him for a servant for ever?

5 Wilt thou play with him as with a bird? or wilt thou bind him for thy maidens?

6 Shall the companions make a banquet of him? shall they part him among the merchants?

7 Canst thou fill his skin with barbed irons? or his head with fish spears?

8 Lay thine hand upon him, remember the battle, do no more.

9 Behold, the hope of him is in vain: shall not one be cast down even at the sight of him?

10 None is so fierce that dare stir him up: who then is able to stand before me?

11 Who hath prevented me, that I should repay him? whatsoever is under the whole heaven is mine.

12 I will not conceal his parts, nor his power, nor his comely proportion.

13 Who can discover the face of his garment? or who can come to him with his double bridle?

14 Who can open the doors of his face? his teeth are terrible round about.

15 His scales are his pride, shut up together as with a close seal.

16 One is so near to another, that no air can come between them.

17 They are joined one to another, they stick together, that they cannot be sundered.

18 By his neesings a light doth shine, and his eyes are like the eyelids of the morning.

19 Out of his mouth go burning lamps, and sparks of fire leap out.

20 Out of his nostrils goeth smoke, as out of a seething pot or caldron.

21 His breath kindleth coals, and a flame goeth out of his mouth.

22 In his neck remaineth strength, and sorrow is turned into joy before him.

23 The flakes of his flesh are joined together: they are firm in themselves; they cannot be moved.

24 His heart is as firm as a stone; yea, as hard as a piece of the nether millstone.

25 When he raiseth up himself, the mighty are afraid: by reason of breakings they purify themselves.

26 The sword of him that layeth at him cannot hold: the spear, the dart, nor the habergeon.

27 He esteemeth iron as straw, and brass as rotten wood.

28 The arrow cannot make him flee: slingstones are turned with him into stubble.

29 Darts are counted as stubble: he laugheth at the shaking of a spear.

30 Sharp stones are under him: he spreadeth sharp pointed things upon the mire.

31 He maketh the deep to boil like a pot: he maketh the sea like a pot of ointment.

32 He maketh a path to shine after him; one would think the deep to be hoary.

33 Upon earth there is not his like, who is made without fear.

34 He beholdeth all high things: he is a king over all the children of pride.

The following excerpt is from author Dr. Karl Shuker's book, Dragons:

Leviathan's Biblical description, and many illustrations based upon it, certainly do recall various elongated, reptilian mystery creatures that have been spied by reliable eyewitnesses in many marine localities. It is particularly reminiscent of a supposedly long-extinct form of dragonlike marine reptile, known as the mosasaur. [End of quote]

Job 40:15-24 describes Behemoth. It reads:

15 Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox.

16 Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly.

17 He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together.

18 His bones are as strong pieces of brass; his bones are like bars of iron.

19 He is the chief of the ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach unto him.

20 Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play.

21 He lieth under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed, and fens.

22 The shady trees cover him with their shadow; the willows of the brook compass him about.

23 Behold, he drinketh up a river, and hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth.

24 He taketh it with his eyes: his nose pierceth through snares.

According to Shuker's book, "American biologist Professor Roy Mackal has boldly stated that, in his opinion, Behemoth might be an undiscovered species of living long-necked dinosaur, similar to Diplodocus and Apatosaurus." [End of quote]

Biblical dragons, which equate to dinosaurs, have been mentioned Scripturally many times. Those who wonder why the Scriptures do not use the term dinosaur should be advised that the word dinosaur, which means "terrible lizard," was not coined until the mid-1800s.

When paleontologists discover fossils of the kind mentioned above, they assign millions of years of age because of the false assumptions in evolution's theory of uniformitarianism, when in fact these creatures existed in the time of man's memory.

One new "missing link" candidate that did arrive was the Chinese chicken-lizard. This was offered for public consumption as proof positive—the "missing link"—proof that reptiles evolved into birds. This first chicken-lizard, much to the chagrin of the promoters, and evolution's darling National Geographic, was proven to be a forgery. Just recently, a new bird-lizard was found (also in China). "Mei long," which is Chinese for "soundly sleeping dragon," is also being portrayed as proof of evolution. A science writer for Discover magazine, Jessa F. Netting, said, "Mei long's slumber provides rare evidence of a behavior linking dinosaurs to their living bird relatives." [End of quote] Of course, the purpose of this purported "missing link" is to give credibility to evolution and to discredit God's 6,000- plus year-old earth.

This fossilized bird-lizard, if not again proven to be a hoax, is just another example of unearthing one of God's largely extinct creations. The Bible knows this part bird/part reptile as a cockatrice. Isaiah 14:29:

Rejoice not thou, whole Palestina, because the rod of him that smote thee is broken: for out of the serpent's root shall come forth a cockatrice, and his fruit shall be a fiery flying serpent.

In ancient literature, the cockatrice, hailed as the king of the serpents, was a creature that possessed both dragon and rooster features. Noah Webster's original 1828 American Dictionary of the English Language, defines cockatrice in the word "Basilisk." It reads:

A fabulous serpent, called a cockatrice, and said to be produced from a cock's egg brooded by a serpent. The ancients alleged that its hissing would drive away all other serpents, and that its breath and even its look was fatal. Some writers suppose that a real serpent exists under this name.  [End of quote]

The Word of God declares, "...for out of the serpent's root shall come forth a cockatrice, and his fruit shall be a fiery flying serpent." The paleontologists have not discovered a missing link, but merely an extinct or nearly-extinct creation of God. It is not millions and millions of years old, but rather in the time of man's memory. The concept of a flying reptile is not news to the scriptures. It is man's unbelief and hypotheticals that has created the concept of long ages—not science, not facts, not truth.

Extinct creatures such as the unicorn, dragon, and dinosaur have a way of popping up—much to the consternation of evolutionists. Evolutionists should prepare themselves for more of God's shock and awe.

MAN SAID: We were not created by the God of the Bible. Actually, we evolved from nothing and we have the "missing links" to prove it.

Now you have THE RECORD.
