God said eggs are good. His words have not changed since they were first penned in the Holy Bible thousands of years ago. Mans pseudo-science instructs us to get rid of the eggs. But, the latest discoveries say mans truth of yesterday has been and continues to be debunked by mans truth of today. This article will contrast mans position with the real truth that never changes.
Eggs

I ask a facetious question, "Did Jesus know something we don't know?" He said that if you lose your life, you will find it. He fully demonstrated that principle. He was and is the creator of the universe, but by outward standards of worldly possessions He had very little to show. He owned no home, carriages, or horses. He had no servants or hefty bank accounts. He had no wife or children. Basically, He owned only the clothes on His back, which in the end were taken by Romans who cast lots for them. The money He did have was kept in a bag. It was used to pay for the needs of his ministry and also to help the poor. Finally, He laid down His life that He might take it up again. The King of Glory said that it's more blessed to give than to receive, and that is the principle He also fully demonstrated.

On the other hand, the world is in the business of giving adulation to the rich and famous. Obscene consumption by them is praised and glorified, but truly their consumption has consumed them. How true this statement from I Timothy 6:6 is:

But godliness with contentment is great gain.

Seek riches of eternal weight—the riches that will last forever. Seek Christ Jesus. Click on to "Further With Jesus" for further details. Now for today's subject.

GOD SAID eggs are good. Luke 11:11-13:

11 If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?

12 Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?

13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

Not only did He create them but He endorses them for human consumption.

MAN SAID: If you want to reduce the chances of getting heart disease, restrict your intake of eggs. Eggs are not good for you.

Now THE RECORD. God said eggs are good. His words have not changed since they were first penned in the Holy Bible thousands of years ago. Man's pseudo-science instructs us to get rid of the eggs. But, the latest discoveries say man's "truth" of yesterday has been and continues to be debunked by man's "truth" of today. This article will contrast man's position with the real truth that never changes. Matthew 24:35:

Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

This article will be just another proof that God is.

In 1972, the American Heart Association led the charge against the egg when it broke the startling news of its purported heart danger, and recommended limiting egg intake to three per week. The egg industry began a dramatic fall, plunging 42% from the high of 402 eggs per person in 1945 to 233 per person in 1991. Their hypothesis connecting high dietary cholesterol to high blood cholesterol became a standard mantra of the 70's and 80's.

The following excerpt concerning the correlation between dietary and actual blood cholesterol is from an article by health writer Anne Krueger titled, "Return of the Good Egg:"

The only problem is, the evidence doesn't support the theory. Studies have consistently failed to find a strong connection between dietary cholesterol and blood cholesterol levels. "The blood cholesterol values of 80 to 85 percent of people show little or no response to dietary cholesterol, regardless of how much dietary cholesterol they take in," says Stuart Patton, scientific adviser to the American Council on Science and Health, a New York-based consumer education consortium, and professor emeritus of food science at Pennsylvania State University.

As it turns out, saturated fats and trans fatty acids have a far greater effect on blood cholesterol than does dietary cholesterol. We also now know that other heart disease risk factors, such as arterial inflammation and homocysteine, may be just as important indicators of heart disease risk as cholesterol levels are — or even more so. What's more, an egg also delivers a healthy dose of betaine, which is known to lower homocysteine levels in the body.

But the final word on the debate may come from research at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas. There, nutritionists are exploring whether a substance in eggs, called phosphatidylcholine, actually inhibits the amount of cholesterol in eggs that is absorbed by your bloodstream. "This may be why so many studies find no link between egg intake and blood cholesterol," says Sung I. Koo, one of the researchers. The inhibition is not 100 percent, but the amount of dietary cholesterol absorbed is significantly less than what's in an egg. [End of quote]

Alice Lichtenstein, Director of the Cardiovascular Nutrition Laboratory at Tufts University and Vice-chairwoman of the American Heart Association's nutrition committee said, "Eggs are just part of a dietary plan like any other food."

Michael Lam, a specialist of medical education at the Academy of Anti-Aging Research in Pasadena, California, touts eggs as a great source of lutein and zeaxanthin which can reduce the chances of cataracts by up to 20% and help fight age-related macular degeneration. Lam says that the egg is "full of vitamins, minerals, and essential amino acids." Lam said, "It's the second most nutritious food, after mother's milk." He also said, "I believe that moderate egg consumption — one per day — should be an integral part of a complete anti-aging diet." [End of quote]

This final excerpt from Krueger's article reads:

Other reasons to recommend the egg? One large orb delivers only 1.5 grams of saturated fat, but 10 percent of the recommended daily allowance for protein (6 grams), 15 percent of the daily value for riboflavin, and 4 percent or more of the daily values for folate, iron, vitamins A, B-6, and B-12, as well as phosphorus and zinc. All this and only 75 calories per oval.  [End of quote]

And how about this short report in Prevention magazine under the header, "Choline Makes For Smarter Babies:"

Pregnancy and breastfeeding rob a woman's body of choline. But that's just when a baby most needs this nutrient to fuel maximum brain development. Researchers gave choline to pregnant, nursing rats and compared their offspring with unsupplemented rats' pups. Those born to choline-supplemented moms did better in memory-testing mazes — even in old age (Journal of the American College of Nutrition, Oct. 2000).  Researchers say two eggs a day during pregnancy and breastfeeding would provide enough choline for mother and child. [End of quote]

Thousands of years before modern science began to know the reason why, God endorsed the egg, and when God endorses a product, wise men stand up and take notice.

Now you have THE RECORD.
